Things not to do on your RTW trip #1 - leave your wallet with bank card and driving license on a plane and spend the next 45 minutes frantically running around Lima airport trying to get it back.

Once we finally got our heads around the slightly confusing Metro bus/train system, we were able to get out of central LA to explore the sights and sounds of California’s most populous city. With only 4 days, our hit list was somewhat slimline (though we definitely could have done more had we been able to hire a car – a lesson learnt)...
After a 4 hour battle on the LA metro system to get to our motel last night, we needed a good greasy breakfast and some free WiFi. So naturally we ended up at the golden arches and ordered something interesting from the breakfast menu: That's right folks, this is sausage, egg and cheese sandwiched between two syrup pancakes and quite honestly it's one of the strangest things we've ever eaten.
It really is the final countdown! After so long planning and preparing, it feels strange to actually be going and not just talking about it!
We've both been packing and re-packing for the last few days and have decided on a minimalist approach. Light bags = easier journeys and fewer things to misplace. The general consensus is that we can pick up any extras whilst we're on the road. Top tip: PACKING CUBES. These things are genius and mean we can A) separate out our items into easy to find compartments and B) compress our clothes down to make extra space. |
