N.B. I wrote a whole post about Kuala Lumpur but managed to delete it by accident before it could be posted. We'll add it in at a later date! Whilst the correct pronunciation of Phuket is as shown above, we incidentally had a rocky time during our first taste of Thailand. We've broken down our 3 night stay by the highlights (or more accurately low points).

Where to begin with Singapore... It wasn't actually as hot or humid as we thought it would be for starters. And the food! The hawkers (think stalls inside a florescent lit dining hall complete with big tables nailed to the floor which you share with locals, tourists and business men alike) were incredible for cheap and truly delicious meals. A stand out was the classic Hainanese chicken rice - a dish even promoted in the official tourist information as being a favourite in Singapore and which is basically just super tasty poached chicken with rice.
Again aware that we have been letting these posts slip (in part due to travelling around more and in part to due to sheer laziness), we thought we’d do more of a ‘run down’ post of our time in Bali. Often thought of as the quintessential South East Asian ‘exotic’ getaway, the culture and natural beauty of this Indonesian island was calling to us right back when we started planning our trip. We’d read some blogs complaining about certain aspects of the southern area (mainly focussed on a heavy tourist drinking culture and the reputation of the notorious Kuta area as a playground for recent Australian school leavers – think 18 year old’s in Zante for the vibe), but decided the rich culture was enough of a draw to explore for ourselves.
