Having bid an emotional farewell to the beautiful horses at Odfjell, we headed out on to our final stop in South America - Buenos Aries. Rounding off a crazy few months, we spent the first nights of our trip so far in a shared dorm (somewhat unhappily for me, 'shared mixed' dorm usually means 'lots of horrible smelly men who snore' dorm where I'm the lone female...). Despite the somewhat interesting sleeping arrangements, our few days in the Argentine capital were spent taking in the sights by foot (not that easy given the weather which was 1) HOT 2) HUMID and 3) stormy beyond belief). Soaking up the sights: we spent much of our time walking around the city, the centre of which is actually quite small, so we were able to see most of the interesting stuff in one day. ![]() Savouring the steak: You can't really come to BA and not visit one of the famous parillas serving amazing cuts of prime Argentinian beef rare with plenty of rich and delicious sides (all washed down with a glass of home grown red, naturally). We headed to Des Nivel which is often said to be one of the best steak houses in BA. We went early to make sure we got a table, so it was a little quiet at first, but the numbers soon picked up and the wine was flowing. We easily dropped the average age of the room by 40 years, as the main customers seemed to be greying British couples but the atmosphere was great and it was a very enjoyable way to say goodbye to South America (and at about £25 per head including drinks, was surprisingly affordable!)
